What is
Botanical Medicine?
Botanical medicine, or herbal medicine, is the therapeutic use of plants as medicine.
Because of the large number of botanicals and their different healing properties, the use of herbs to treat different symptoms is extensive. These botanicals can be used individually, or can be combined depending on the intended therapeutic effect.
Today, women in Calgary may seek out botanical medicine to treat health concerns such as:
-
Hormone imbalances
-
Menopause
-
Acne
-
Immune dysfunction
-
Anxiety
-
Poor Sleep
-
Digestive complaints
The beauty of botanical medicine is its diversity, which allows you to treat so much more than just the above listed ailments.
You should reach out with any questions that you may have about botanical medicine to see how it might be able to help you.
How is Botanical Medicine Prescribed and Created?
Botanicals (herbs) can be formulated into capsules, tablets, teas, salves, oils, tinctures and more. After a thorough assessment of your complaints and symptoms, I will often recommend an herbal remedy of some form.
One of my favourite ways to deliver herbs is through the formulation of a custom tincture. Herbal tinctures are alcohol based extracts of specific herbs.
Because we carry a large range of single herb tinctures, I can pick and choose which herbs I think would be most beneficial to you and your concerns, and combine them together.
This ability to create a custom blend of botanicals is one of the most rewarding parts of my job, as it encompasses true individualization of health care.
This means that regardless of the issues you’re dealing with, individual treatment is always an important element.
